Expansion and Contraction
Vinyl windows expand and contract easily, causing air to enter the areas around the window. This may prevent your window from opening and closing properly. Contraction can also lead to warping, which can cause a poor air seal that requires periodic caulking.

Crank gears are sometimes made of plastic that can wear down from repeated use. Or, perhaps, the regulator arm is not aligned in its lower track.
There are three main things that cause power windows to fail: blown fuses, bad switches, and burned out motors. It's also possible for the window regulator to wear out, bend, or get stuck, although this is less common.
